Degree CoursesBusiness Management at the East Asia Institute is a four-year post-secondary degree course responding to the need for business professionals with cultural sensitivity and language competence when dealing with the Chinese and Japanese markets. Course concept Courses in both streams are taken from the first through to the eigth semester. The fifth semester is reserved for a period of study abroad . The interlocking pattern respresented in the diagram below refers to the integrative nature of the two streams. The courses in the two different streams support each other. Examples and case studies based on Asia are drawn on to illustrate concepts introduced in the business courses. These can be in turn better appreciated by students as a result of the knowledge of the culture gleaned in the language and cultural courses. The period of study abroad in the fifth semester further serves as an integrative function linking first and second stages of the course of study.
